The staff of Radikls recently held their annual beach barbeque and this year it was extra special as they celebrated 15 years in the web business. Originally started as Dorset Web, the business has become known as ‘Radikls’ as Managing Director Tony Raybould gradually expanded the business outside of Dorset. Tony says ‘We had to find a new name to cover all the areas of the UK and with purchasing new businesses in the Surrey and Sussex areas we came up with our brand name of Radikls which is in fact made up of all the initials of the family, including my ex business partner Ian who decided he couldn’t stand our British weather anymore and emigrated to Australia 5 years ago.

The web business has grown considerably since we started trading, in the early days we had to convince clients it was a good idea to buy their company domain names. It has been very satisfying helping businesses to start up, nurturing them along and helping them expand into gaining business through their ecommerce sites.’ Tony can be contacted through Radikls.com or 07748802462.

Mark as Fairy

Radikls Business Manager Bites Off More Than He Could Chew!

It takes a long time for the fairies to find their new home as Karen Cutler the ‘Fairy God Mother’ behind the name JUST ADD FAIRIES discovered when she wanted to bring some from Australia to Christchurch.

Karen finally made her own wishes come true when she unlocked the door to their new home in Wick Lane, Christchurch on the 10th February after months of preparation. Karen when visiting Australia in 2006 conceived the idea but it took a while to find an ideal Fairy location and then to create the perfect magical environment for both children and adults!

The Fairies had some help settling in, firstly from Chris Milner of Cogent Training with training and marketing strategies and invited them to the BNI Dolphin Poole Chapter breakfast meeting at Discovery Court. It was there that they met Richard Llewellyn from Effusion Design who created their business cards and stationary, Barrie Loring from Concrete Enhancement who gave positive business advice and Adrian Ford from Homefix Computing who provides ongoing IT support, even Fairies need computers these days. They also met Mark Bradley from Radikls.com, our very own website design business manager, who are creating the www.justaddfairies.co.uk website.

On the opening day, 2CR were invited to broadcast the event live to the local area and the BNI team were happy to get involved, only Mark bit off more than he could chew! The passing motorists, public and listeners of 2CR were a little startled by his deep “fairy” voice and appearance as the “Tooth Fairy” in a white tutu, wings and sparkling silver head band complete with springy stars! When asked where the Tooth Fairy came from, no one could believe Mark was from their website company and that it was all part of the service!

Karen’s vision is now turning into reality with the help of BNI and Radikls. She said, “The day was amazing and everything flew off the shelves! We have had a huge interest in the children’s parties and also enquiries from businesses wanting to use our Fairies to market their events – something that we are very interested in promoting”.

We would like to wish Karen and Just Add Fairies all the success she deserves for 2007 and many years to follow.

Dorset Web is 10

Dorset Web are celebrating reaching their 10 year anniversary.

Dorset Web was one of the first web design companies to set up in Dorset, clients quickly spread to counties outside the area and particularly in London. It then became necessary to find a more corporate identity and the name Radikls was formed. The interesting spelling of a word now widely used by the media was formed from the initials of the 2 business partners and their children i.e. Raybould, Anthony, Dunnet, Ian, Kathryn, Laura, Stephanie.

Managing Director Tony Raybould says ‘we have grown organically over the years, designing literally hundreds of sites. Our clients are in 20 counties in the UK, plus in the USA, France and now Australia. As part of our celebrations we are running a competition to help 3 businesses.

The first prize will be for the best idea for an ecommerce web site which we will build, carry out search engine optimisation and update the site. We will work as a mentor and support partner with the winner on a commission/partnership agreement.

The second prize will be a website optimisation and search engine placement service for a year.

The third prize will be a redesign of a website.

To apply we would ask people to email us with details about their ideas and which prize they are applying for, or go to the competition page. Apply to www.dorsetweb.co.uk/competition or write to us at the address on the web site.

Grist Legal Raise Their ‘Big Wig’ Status

Grist Legal Recruitment has recently undergone some radical improvements to their website. Having been established since 2002 as legal recruitment specialists in the placement of Solicitors, Legal Secretaries and support staff, it was of the utmost importance to have the highest ‘big wig’ profile possible.

Refreshing website content, implementing an all-new behind-the-scenes user-friendly administration area and increasing visibility within search engines were the three main areas of attack or should that be defence. The promotion of legal community partners and client testimonials would also help maintain their position as one of the South coasts most comprehensive independent legal recruitment consultancies.

Turning to Radikls.com, a Dorset based Web company and providers of their personnel recruitment site, they embarked upon a 2 month journey which unbeknown to them would result in an extra 50% website visitors in the first month of use, or putting it simply, 2500 more prospective clients than August of last year.

Brenda Morland, Grist Legal Recruitment Office Manager said, “the site is fantastic, better than we’d envisaged, it is much easier to update the content and it looks superb”. “Radikls and Dorset Web have delivered just what we wanted and more”.

Ian commented that ” Life in Australia is generally more relaxed with a strong emphasis on leisure and family time, but business here is still very focussed and we work hard to get and keep our clients”

Warning – Domain Name Scam and Hi-Jack !

Some of our clients are receiving letters from the Domain Registry of America. DO NOT respond to these letters as they are a scam to transfer your domain name to their control. They ask for payment well in advance of the due dates and if paid the name moves to an American server away from your current UK service with ourselves which will mean your email will go down and your web site will disappear!

Also we know of companies that call you to tell you of names available that you might want and that you must book them straight away otherwise they will be lost. If you are concerned about any of your existing names or would like to check availability of other names please give Libby a call on our freephone 0800 068 058 9 or libby@dorsetweb.co.uk.

The Twins

Magic Of The Web Is No Illusion

Dorset twin illusionists Gary and Paul Hardy-Brown landed a nine-month starring role at Alton Towers after a local firm worked its magic on their website.

The twins were signed up for England’s largest illusion show ‘The Magic of Ice, Circus of Illusion’ after Alton Towers’ bosses spotted their website.

It had been optimised with the search engine marketing expertise of Dorset Web. MD Tony Raybould said: “Whilst most people now realise the importance of having a website, some still don’t realise that a site needs to be properly marketed on the Internet. You can have the best and funkiest site in the world, but it’s completely wasted if the design is ‘non search engine friendly’ and no one can find it. Gary and Paul realised the need to invest in professional search engine expertise and it quickly paid off.”

Among the first things to change was a new website by Poole based Dorset Web, a division of Radikls.com. The challenge was to completely change their website in two days.

Lee Peck (L) welcomes Michael Hancock of Radikls.com to a champagne reception in front of the Boss Swap Cameras.

Michael Hancock, from Radikls.com, agreed to take up the challenge. “Ensuring that new photography was commissioned was the key to breathing new life into Decomatic’s website”, said Michael. “Often what separates a good site from a poor one is the quality of the photography and copy – many companies try to cut corners in this area, especially with the promise of DIY digital photography. However, the creative process involved including the photographer’s skills are what makes the difference.”

Radikls delivered the new site on time to a host of comments like, “WOW” and “500% better than before” at a champagne reception held to launch Decomatic’s new image.

Dorset Businesses Lose Thousands

Currently Dorset businesses that advertise in magazines and local press are missing out on thousands of opportunities every day – claims Libby Raybould from Poole based Dorset Web Limited.

Mrs Raybould said “Although companies spend thousands of pounds in printed advertising they are missing out on the opportunity to advertise their website address.”

In a study carried out last month by www.dorsetweb.co.uk only sixty percent of businesses sampled that had a website advertised the fact in their printed advertising. More disturbingly on telephoning the companies only one in three receptionists knew their own company website address.

“We have found from evaluating our clients’ website statistics that those who advertise their website make a dramatic impact on the number of visitors to their site. Said Libby “I would strongly recommend that companies advertise their website as much as possible both to their clients and their staff”.

Number Plates

Driving E-business Reform

Poole Based Radikls.com launched an executive car club this month with a great new way of promoting its members’ businesses. Why not have a number plate that goes to your website!

Tony Raybould said “We wanted to tell people about our company and thought that stickers or signage would not look right on our vehicles. It was at the same time that we were looking for private plates for the vehicles that I looked into the link between web addresses and number plates.”

The result was that they bought V200 COM & V200 NET. These addresses point to the radikls.com website.

“It is a great way to be seen. These days most people are aware of private plates, ours catch attention. We have had numerous e-mails saying what a great idea it is.” Said Mr. Raybould.

“We wanted to set up a Car Club for like minded business executives. For a small fee we are offering to provide advice on what to do, buy the domain name and point this to your current website”.
